bluetooth hearing aids

Bluetooth Hearing Aids

Bluetooth hearing aids are any hearing aids that allow you to connect your hearing device to your phone. There are three main functions with Bluetooth hearing aids: volume control, self-fitting, and streaming. The more advanced hearing aids will combine these features.

Volume control

These app-controlled hearing aids allow you to change the volume of your hearing aid using a smartphone app. It also gives you the chance to change the listening program and keep an eye on the battery life of your hearing aids. Most Bluetooth-enabled hearing aids will have this feature and not offer other features unless mentioned otherwise.

Self-fitting

Self-fitting hearing aids help you set up the hearing aid using a quick hearing test. This adjusts the hearing aid to your needs and makes it easier to use. This is a more advanced feature of some hearing aids and ensures you get a more personalized experience. It's a DIY version of the hearing test an audiologist gives you. Self-fitting hearing aids also offer app-controlled functions.

Streaming

Streaming allows you to stream music, video sound, and phone calls straight to your devices. This very advanced feature means your hearing aids double as normal headphones. In the future, more and more hearing aids will be equipped with this function.

More about Bluetooth hearing aids

When a hearing aid uses Bluetooth, it means that it uses this technology to connect to your phone. This can mean either of the three functions mentioned above. The smarter your hearing aid, the more it will be able to do.

When you're shopping for hearing aids, make sure the device has the exact functions you're looking for. Most hearing aids will explicitly tell you whether you can stream music to your hearing aids, but if it's unclear, make sure to double check.
