Quickly after its introduction, the Liginn rechargeable hearing amplifier became one of the best-selling hearing amplifier models on Amazon. This immediately makes it seem like a worthwhile buy. But I’d like to look past first impressions. Years ago, I explored why you can’t just trust Amazon reviews (especially when it comes to hearing aids). At the same time, Liginn seems to know what they’re doing. At first sight, these rechargeable hearing aids are a good base model.

Time to dive in further. There’s a lot to like about these hearing aids. For one, the price is attractive. Then, there are all the benefits listed by Liginn. The company states that their amplifiers reduce noise considerably, thanks to their double noise reduction. They’re also excited about their batteries. But they would be. Sometimes, it’s hard to cut through the marketing language.
That’s where I come in. As always, I’ll guide you through the key features and the pros and cons for the Liginn Rechargeable Hearing Aid. I’ll even give you some alternatives to consider before giving you my final verdict. If you’d rather skip the reading, make sure to take a look at my 30-second review at the bottom of the post.

Key features of the Liginn Rechargeable Hearing Aids
One key highlight is the price. The amplifiers are quite affordable, especially when you consider that some folks pay thousands for good hearing aids. Something this inexpensive is bound to raise some eyebrows.
The company is excited about the double noise reduction feature, which is the main selling point. Part of what it does is process audio intelligently, thanks to the dual filters. All of this is possible thanks to the German-made digital chip that can differentiate between ambient noise and desirable noise people want to hear. Quite honestly, it’s not as impressive as Liginn wants you to think.
What does stand out is the battery life for the Liginn. You fully charge the battery in about three to four hours. That’s impressive, but what’s even better is that this charge could last 80 hours. On top of that, the battery should last you five years.
Who is this hearing amplifier for?
With a max gain of 38dB, the Liginn is perfect for mild hearing loss. This means it’s a good first hearing aid: it’s cheap and easy to get used to.
How well does the Liginn Rechargeable Hearing Aid work?
Aside from its key features, there is a bit more to know about the Liginn. The Liginn comes as a set, but each of the devices can be worn in either ear. They’re not truly ambidextrous, but after switching the ear hook, you can switch ears. The ear hook rotates a full 360 degrees, which helps with adjusting it to your liking. The Liginn sports four volume settings and three listening modes. The four channels are up to par, but nothing exciting. That last statement really applies to most about the Liginn.

What’s not to like about the Liginn Rechargeable Hearing Amplifier?
There are some things I clearly dislike about the Liginn. First of all, the Amazon product page is a bit of a mess. There are a lot of typos, weird sentences, and it just feels off. It may not be a reflection on the product itself, but it just doesn’t bode well.
Then there’s the model itself. Although I feel hearing aids should be worn like reading glasses (which are fairly well accepted at a certain age), plenty of people will want a more discrete model than the blue Liginn. Other than that, there’s not much wrong with it, but I feel you’d be better off spending a few bucks more and getting a more solid model. Every now and then, it does come in beige.
Lastly, and this is not the Liginn’s fault, but I feel most people skip the mild hearing loss stage. What most people are willing to admit as mild hearing loss means you need a step up from the Liginn. By the time most people realize they might need a hearing aid, they’re ready to move on from the Liginn.
Hearing amplifiers that are good alternatives
Well, you may ask, are there any hearing aids that will work better? I’m glad you asked. That’s what this section is here for. The first model that comes to mind is the Banglijian Ziv-201. It’s another base model so decent, it’s basically boring. Compared to the Liginn, it is a bit more powerful, and the Banglijian company has a longer and better reputation.
To get far more features, a better model, and an American-made hearing aid, try the ZVOX VB20, one of the best-sellers on this website. For more alternatives in a similar price range, please read my article with the best hearing aids under $200. If you really want to step it up, one of the Otofonix hearing aids models might work better.
Should you buy the Liginn?
Probably not. Unless you really want to spend as little as possible and don’t care for extra features and you only have mild hearing loss (not self-diagnosed), you won’t get as much out of the Liginn as you should. There’s nothing blatantly wrong with it, but spending a little bit more gets you a much better experience and a much better model.
