Running out of batteries is annoying. Running out of hearing aid batteries is probably even more annoying, because it immediately affects every part of your life. There is no good time to run out of batteries, and nobody enjoys a late night last-minute pharmacy trip. To counter these problems, some companies offer hearing aid batteries subscription services. Like many other subscription services, this means you pay a flat fee upfront and receive your hearing aid batteries at predictable times.

In this article, I want to review four different subscription models. These four models are companies that specialize in battery-based subscriptions. I’ve not taken Amazon’s subscribe-and-save or Target’s equivalent into consideration. There’s also a chance your pharmacy could set you up with a similar service.

For each company, I’ll take into account what the hearing aid batteries cost, what the conditions are for each subscription, and what batteries you might expect. If you have any questions about any of the services, please let me know in the comments and I’ll add it to my list.
Overview of hearing aid batteries subscription services
Service | Brand | Delivery | Lowest cost per month | Extras | Recycling service | Ease of shopping |
Hearoclub | Unknown | 2 months | $7 | Battery tester | Yes | 5/5 |
MedPlus | Rayovac | 6 months | $4.33 | No | No | 3/5 |
monthlybatteries.com | Duracell | Monthly | $8 | No | No | 2/5 |
myearsonline.com | Rayovac | 4 months | $5.20 | No | No | 4/5 |
- Since not every service has the same delivery terms, I have taken the plan with the least batteries and calculated it to a monthly delivery schedule.
What is the best hearing aid batteries subscription service?
Let me put the conclusion first. I was genuinely interested in how the different services would compete, but in truth, there’s only one real hearing aid batteries subscription service. Only Hearoclub allows you to control how many batteries you receive in the selected time frame, offers flexibility in the delivery schedule or number of batteries, and offers extras such as a recycling service and a battery tester.
The other three services seem to underestimate the complexity of hearing aids and hearing amplifiers. Not all devices have the same battery life, and not everyone uses their hearing aids all day long. You can’t just send a box full of batteries and be done with it. If you need size 675 batteries, you’re plainly out of luck with monthlybatteries.com.
MedPlus offers different ‘plans’, but lacks the true understanding of hearing aid users. Their pricing point could offer a big plus, and if you know what you want, their service is basic, but effective. A similar point could be argued for MyEarsOnline.com, if it weren’t for the limited customizing options for your order, and the higher price.
Hearoclub

Hearoclub is a dedicated hearing battery subscription service. Like most other subscription services, you pick the specific batteries you need, select an amount, and Hearoclub sends you the selected amount of batteries every other month. Aside from size 10, 13, 312, and 675, they also have cochlear implant batteries. Plans start at $7 per month for 16 batteries every other month, and go up to $25 a month for 64 batteries.
On top of the incredibly smooth shopping experience, Hearoclub also offers a keychain battery tester and a recycling service. Simply request an extra recycling envelope and Hearoclub takes care of your old batteries free of charge.
MonthlyBatteries.com

MonthlyBatteries.com operates from the idea that everyone runs out of batteries, and sending a batch of batteries to your home on a monthly basis helps you out. These people aren’t in the business of hearing aids, and it shows. Their only subscription options are one box, two boxes or three boxes at the same time. If you order three boxes, you don’t receive another shipment for another three months. It’s unclear how many batteries are in one box, and you can’t make any adjustments.
That’d be plenty of reasons not to use their subscription, but there’s more. Their ‘About’ page smells fishy. I know the internet is full of smart entrepreneurs who find a need, make a website to fulfill that need, and then cash in on their idea. Good for them. What I don’t like is when people pretend they’re a full-blown company including three senior executives with generic names who can’t spell check their website or take better pictures than you and I could have done on our phone. I don’t trust you, MonthlyBatteries, and your hearing aid battery subscription does nothing to counter that.
